Round table in Bulgaria

The SEEVAL Round table in Bulgaria was held on 26 January 2021. Thirteen educators and stakeholders from Haskovo region took part in the event.

Participants received information about the SEEVAL project. Тhe major conclusions from the inquiry of the social and emotional competences of the students and the needs of professional support of the teachers were presented and discussed.

The participants shared some of their professional challenges and concerns.
Low motivation for learning, learning difficulties and poor educational results are among the challenges of the students. Teachers communicated difficulties to reach out and to collaborate effectively with the parents. Small schools reported lack of access to full-time psychologists who could provide psychological and consultative support.

Important conclusions with regards of the project outcomes are:

• a module on constructive communication with parents should be included in the teacher training;
• intercultural sensitization of teachers should be offered too;
• support and materials dedicated to development and reinforcing of teachers–students’ relationships are also on demand.
