Current Situation Analysis Report-Bulgaria
Social and emotional learning (SEL) is an unknown term for the mainstream Bulgarian education. It is
generally perceived that formation of the social and emotional competences is a matter of the family
upbringing.
Inevitably, due to the age of the children, kindergartens are places where formative work on
SEL is carried out, combined with other activities addressing the development of the child in an “in an
environment secured for learning through play, in accordance with the age specifics and assuring the
overall development of the child”
